Background:
간 재생을 촉진하는 인자로 알려진 hepatotrophic factor, 즉 augmenter of liver regeneration(ALR)은 포유류 간이 가진 뛰어난 재생 능력에 중요한 역할을 하는 요인 중 하나로 여겨지고 있습니다. ALR은 hepatic regenerative stimulation substance(HSS)라고도 불립니다. 해당 유전자는 다낭성 신장 질환(PKD1) 유전자 좌위가 포함된 16번 염색체 구간에 위치합니다.
이 유전자가 암호화하는 추정 단백질은 효모의 scERV1 단백질과 약 42%의 상동성을 가지며, 효모 scERV1 유전자는 산화적 인산화, 미토콘드리아 유전체 유지, 그리고 세포 분열 주기에 필수적인 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 인간의 ALR 유전자는 효모 scERV1 유전자의 구조적 및 기능적 상동체(structural and functional homolog)입니다.
